2. How is pornography sexist?

Sexism is a system that values men and masculinity over women and femininity. Women's representation in pornography tells the viewers - men- that they are valued above women. In pornography, women are devalued and subject to abuse and degradation by men. In pornography men shout dirty words and hateful language at women. Men hit, whip, cut, spit, bite, push, shove, feel up and ejaculate on women. Men rape women, alone or in gangs. Men insult, humiliate, and commit unspeakable acts of cruelty on women.

Women are also devalued in pornography through dehumanization: women are no longer people but body parts ready for men's use. In pornography women appear as genitalia, legs, breasts, lips, pubic hair and vaginas that are there for men to gaze at, and for men to use for oral sex, vaginal penetration or anal sex. Thus pornography suggests that women are willing objects for men who will be used to satisfy their sexual desires; women's importance stems from their ability to serve men sexually.
